Donna Kann Gibson grew up in Guttenberg, Iowa and graduated from Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wisc., with a degree in art education. After teaching art at the junior high level for 35 years in Wisconsin and Dubuque, she is painting with a group of artists in the Art Studio. In the classroom Donna worked with a wide variety of media, both 2 and 3 dimensional, but she has always loved drawing in any media. Pastels have become her media of choice because she can draw and paint at the same time. She loves the immediacy of the medium (no drying time) and the fact that pastels lend themselves to any drawing or painting style – from very loose to very controlled. Her favorite subject matter is the beautiful landscapes of the tri-state area. Donna was pleased to have two of her pastel paintings chosen for the covers of Julian’s Journal and she has work in private collections in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota.
