Vickie is a photographer and designer whose motto is “what the naked eye doesn’t see.” In 2006 she went back to school at NICC where she received a 2 year General Associate Degree in 2009. Her thirst for knowledge in writing, photo journalism and communications led her to enroll at Clarke University in Dubuque where she received her BA Degree in Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations and Advertising in 2011. She found that this was not exactly the career path she wanted. Her passion was still photography, where she had an in-depth field course during her time at Clarke, and her professor was very impressed with her work. Vickie was contacted by VIDA, an online Google Market, in August of 2015, right after she had retired from her job of almost 10 years as an FMLA Specialist at Sedgwick CMS. VIDA found her photography via social media and wanted her to collaborate with them as an artist to create her own clothing line designed from her photography. This has been Vickie’s biggest success, as her love of photography goes all the way back to the age of eight, when she received her first camera and discovered she had a knack for taking great photographs, but breaking into the photography business to make a living has been her biggest challenge because she has been limited by her subject matter. Vickie prefers to focus on capturing scenery, landscape, architecture and macro photography. Vickie uses natural lighting and elements in nature to create unique compositions with her lens to find and frame new and exciting photographs that she then envisions on her silk and knit tops, silk and cashmere scarves, tote bags, silk and cotton pocket squares and home accent pillows.
